Red and Blue Armchair by Gerit Rietveld for Cassina

$1,800.00
Sold Out

Designed 1918, reissued by Cassina in 1973. Seat and backrest in birch plywood with edges and top in beech veneer, solid beech structure. Numbered 3431.

A piece of furniture reduced down to a distinctive linear wooden frame painted black, with yellow detailing for the ends of each piece of timber, while a blue plank forms the seat and a red one provides a high back. These planks appear to float upon the frame in a disconnected way, while all the joints and tectonic elements of the chair are hidden. Here, magical abstraction, artistic form and bold colours are everything, like a painting turned into a piece of furniture.

Modernist Design Complete by Dominic Bradbury

Dimensions: 34.7”H x 25.7”W x 32.7"D

Condition: Great vintage condition

Available for pickup in Chicago.
